What to see in Istanbul
Blue Mosque
The largest, the most important and the most outstanding mosque in the city. Six minarets, a special atmosphere, and thousands of tourists every day. The architecture of the mosque combines two styles: classic Ottoman and Byzantine. Construction lasted 6 years and ended in 1616 a year before the death of the Sultan.
Hagia Sophia
A mosque striking in its luxury and scale. It symbolizes cultural unity and is a very special place. And all because the temple has existed for almost a thousand years as a Christian cathedral, being the most important in the Orthodox world. And only in 1453, after the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Sultan, it became a mosque. The appearance of the cathedral was redesigned in a Muslim way: the minarets were completed, the cross was changed to a crescent, and the frescoes were plastered.
Basilica Cistern
A reservoir in an underground palace supported by 336 columns. The facility has always been considered a strategic one, because a reserve of drinking water was stored here to be used in case of drought or siege of the city. In 1987, a museum was opened here, which is now open for tourists.
Cevahir
One of the largest European shopping malls. More than 350 shops on six floors. Here even the most demanding ones will find what they were looking for. Open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.
Galata tower
Medieval tower that can be clearly seen from all sides. Located in the European part on the Galata Hill. It is suitable for both an ideal evening promenade and direct visits. On the top floor, there is a restaurant, bar and observation deck.
