Travel with pets

We at SkyUp love animals very much and will do our best to ensure that your pet's flight is comfortable and stress-free. We recommend that our passengers consult with a veterinarian about the precautions for the upcoming transportation, before planning a trip with a pet.

Our airline rules allow only cats or dogs to be transported.

The service of transporting a pet in the cabin must be booked and paid no later than 24 hours before departure in your personal account on the airline's website. This need is due to the limited number of animals that we can accept for transportation in the aircraft cabin.

Please note that the cost of the service online is lower than at the airport. To check in your pet for the flight, please arrive at the airport well in advance.

Preparation for transportation of the pets and the necessary documents

To make your flight with your pet worry-free, please:

  • familiarize yourself with the requirements of the legislation of the country, from the territory, to the territory or through the territory of which you are traveling;

Transportation of the pets in the cabin

For the comfort and safety of both a passenger with a pet and other passengers, the animal must be clean, healthy and travel in a special container. The maximum weight of a container with an animal in the cabin must not exceed 8 kg. Only 4 containers with animals are allowed in the cabin for the simultaneous transportation.

It is important that the container meets the following requirements:

  • Maximum container dimensions (length / width / height): 55 x 45 x 25 cm;
  • The container must be protected from the penetration of liquids, odors and the possibility for the animal to escape;
  • Transportation in cages, soft baskets, travel bags specially designed for the carriage of small animals in the aircraft cabin is allowed;
  • The animal in the container must be able to stand, turn freely and lie down naturally.

Rules for the transportation of animals in the cabin of the aircraft:

  • A cage can contain no more than two animals, of one litter, and their total weight should not exceed 8 kg;
  • The joint carriage of cats and dogs in one container is not allowed;
  • The container must be carried under the supervision of the owner in the arms or under the seat in front of you. It is not allowed to transport the container on the seat;
  • According to safety rules, the container with an animal must be transported under the supervision of the owner:

    • during takeoff/landing — under the front seat only (container parameters - 55x45x25 cm, maximum weight of an animal with a container - 8 kg)
    • during the flight — under the front seat or on the passenger's arms (container parameters - 55x45x25 cm, maximum weight of an animal with a container - 8 kg)
  • For safety reasons, passengers traveling with a pet in the cabin are not allowed to sit in the emergency exit rows.

Important! It is forbidden to open the container and take/release the animal from the container on board the aircraft, as well as feed it during the entire flight.

Transportation of service animals

Service animals travel free of charge on board our aircraft. Service animals include:

  • guide dogs or other animals under the control of a passenger with a disability or a person accompanying such a passenger;
  • assistance dogs for government officials and rescuers.

Like pets, service animals must be clean and healthy and dogs must have a collar, leash and muzzle.

The airline representative may ask you to provide documents confirming that the animal has been trained to accompany a passenger who needs its assistance.

Breeds with special needs: brachycephalic animals

Brachycephalic animals are cats and dogs with a very short, flattened muzzle and a disproportionately large head.

We understand the importance of taking proper care of your pet, therefore we cannot transport certain breeds of dogs and cats in the baggage compartment of the aircraft, as this poses a risk for them such as heatstroke or breathing problems due to stress and high temperatures. If your pet belongs to one of these breeds, you can take it on the plane, observing the rules for transporting animals in the cabin.

The rule applies to the following breeds:

  • Dogs: Boston Terrier, Boxer (all breeds), Bulldog (all breeds), Bull Terrier, Brussels Griffon, Chow Chow, Japanese Chin (Japanese Spaniel), Mastiff (all breeds), Pekingese, Pug (all breeds), Shee-tzu, Shar-pei, Affenpinscher, etc.
  • Cats: Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian, etc.
