— Sip coffee in the old town and stroll down to the Lower Barak Gardens. Valletta is unique in its versatility. It is both a capital, an old port, and a fortress. The city was founded at the end of the XVI century and it has been preserved intact to our days. So take a stroll down Republic Street, check out the Royal Opera, and don't forget the Grand Master's Palace.

— Visit the old Maltese capital — Mdina. The city is home to about 300 locals and it is here several scenes of the legendary "Game of Thrones" were filmed.

— Watch the sunset at the Blue Grotto. Take the bus to Dingli Cliffs stop.

— Visit the island of Gozo. After all, Malta is an archipelago and ferries go to Gozo. It is famous for its ancient fortress in the major city of the island — Victoria.

— Have a picnic overlooking Gozo's inland sea. 

— Or the party of the year in St. Julian's, and then walk to Sliema.

Eat

Legendary Pastizzi with ricotta, meat or sweet filling. Or ftiru, a delicious sandwich with tuna, capers, olives, and tomatoes. It costs somewhere around €1.5* per item.

And if you want to sit in a restaurant, get ready to pay about €30* per person.

Accommodation

If you decide to stay in the capital, be prepared for a moderately high price tag. We do not recommend choosing the overly touristy areas of Sliema or St. Julians. Stop at Bugibba, for example. It is cozy, close to the beach, and has many bus stops to explore the island.

In high season, a night in a 5-star hotel will cost around €100*. If you rent a room further from the center, you will have to pay about €60* for a decent option.
