Between Sicily and North Africa. Malta is the jewel in the European necklace. It is not surprising that at one time the Romans, British, and French dominated here. And now there is an atmosphere of relaxed happiness, carefree beauty, and historical significance. We will tell you about the capital and the most important places of the island.
How to move
The airport is located 5 km away from the capital of the island state. Therefore, we recommend not to spend money on a taxi, but to take the bus. The transport network is extensive, so for €2* you can get to the capital. And also, for a 2-hour trip in one direction, you can change to another bus for free.
To better navigate the local transport system, download the tallinja Smartphone App. All buses have free wi-fi, and you can build routes along the road.
Well, to better explore Malta, rent a car. There are many such services on the island, choose according to your budget expectations.
What to see & explore (things to see out of the city)
Valletta is just the first page of a large Maltese book. To read it in full, follow our to-do list:
— Sip coffee in the old town and stroll down to the Lower Barak Gardens. Valletta is unique in its versatility. It is both a capital, an old port, and a fortress. The city was founded at the end of the XVI century and it has been preserved intact to our days. So take a stroll down Republic Street, check out the Royal Opera, and don't forget the Grand Master's Palace.
— Visit the old Maltese capital — Mdina. The city is home to about 300 locals and it is here several scenes of the legendary "Game of Thrones" were filmed.
— Watch the sunset at the Blue Grotto. Take the bus to Dingli Cliffs stop.
— Visit the island of Gozo. After all, Malta is an archipelago and ferries go to Gozo. It is famous for its ancient fortress in the major city of the island — Victoria.
— Have a picnic overlooking Gozo's inland sea.
— Or the party of the year in St. Julian's, and then walk to Sliema.
Legendary Pastizzi with ricotta, meat or sweet filling. Or ftiru, a delicious sandwich with tuna, capers, olives, and tomatoes. It costs somewhere around €1.5* per item.
And if you want to sit in a restaurant, get ready to pay about €30* per person.
If you decide to stay in the capital, be prepared for a moderately high price tag. We do not recommend choosing the overly touristy areas of Sliema or St. Julians. Stop at Bugibba, for example. It is cozy, close to the beach, and has many bus stops to explore the island.
In high season, a night in a 5-star hotel will cost around €100*. If you rent a room further from the center, you will have to pay about €60* for a decent option.

We at SkyUp want your trip to be comfortable and beautiful, and that you completely relax, forget about any worries and set out to relax already in the cabin.
SkyInterior on our sides SkyUp is one of the reasons why it is so pleasant and comfortable to fly with us. This is an integrated approach to the design of the aircraft cabin, which is based on the principles of ergonomics, rationalism and, of course, comfort.
The main and really impressive effect, which is noted by absolutely everything - is the multi-colored interior lighting, which is selected depending on the phase of flight. The colors change very smoothly within a few minutes and create an inconspicuous calming and relaxing effect during the flight.
In the night phase of the flight, the light is turned off; for comfort, only the pleasant blue Sky Skylight remains, which somewhat resembles the light of the moon. At dawn, when the time to wake up, the color of the backlight changes to orange-pink - the color of the rising sun.
SkyUp offers to enjoy the comfort of modern lounges and feel the incredible emotions during the flight. After all, the journey must begin beautifully, do you agree?
