Interestingly, the walls of the fortress were built at an angle to the rampart, for convenient flanking fire. That is why it is called an oblique. There are moats, defensive ramparts, wooden fences with sharp stakes, bridges, arches, loopholes, and guns lined up. In the underground halls are now located museums. From the complex you can see the entire complex of the Pechersk fortress: Lysogorsky fort, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, and the Arsenal plant.

— The Golden Gates are the symbol of the city, located in the center of the square of the same name. They are a unique monument of the defensive craftsmanship of Ancient Rus of the 11th century, preserved to this day. Brama was not only a defensive construction, but also the main entrance to the town, through which distinguished guests, foreign ambassadors, and princely retinue were received and escorted.
