From airport to the city

Odesa Airport is located only 7.5 km from the city center so that you can reach it by regular public transport. Namely, by bus No. 117 or by trolleybus No. 14 (≈ € 0.3). A taxi will cost € 4–5.

Transport

The most popular transport in Odesa is trolleybuses, trams, and minibuses. The fare is ≈ € 0.3. Even if you plan to travel around the city by car, we recommend at least once taking a tram – this is a city's business card.

Lifehack: keep a close eye on tram stops. On some lines, they are called by the fountain number (these are underground water sources) – the first fountain, the second, the third, etc.

Interesting historical places

The main attraction of Odesa is the sea. It is charming here in summer and the colder seasons. From June to September, you can spend your days lying on the beach and drinking cold drinks. Walk on the beaches, listening to the sound of water in late autumn, winter, and spring.

And at any time of the year, you can walk the Path of Health, laid over the shoreline. Here Odesans take leisurely walks, run, ride bicycles and stop to exercise on specially equipped sports grounds. And tourists like to walk along the modern promenades on the beaches "Langeron" and "Arcadia" and near the seaport.

But Odesa attracts not only by the sea but also by its captivating architecture: Opera House (be sure to go inside), Derybasivska Street, the passage of Mendelevich brothers, One Wall House on Vorontsovsky Lane, 4 (if you look from the side, it really seems as if the building consists only of a front wall). And, of course, you can't leave Odessa without climbing the Potemkin Stairs (Potemkin Steps). If you look at them from the bottom, it seems that there are no platforms between the stairs.

Establishments

Odesa cuisine is as cozy as the city itself. The establishments here often cook like at home: cutlets and meatballs, mashed potatoes, sandwiches with eggplant caviar, etc.

And, of course, in Odesa, you should try fish dishes. Baked, stewed, dried, or smoked – few remain indifferent. And also the influence of Jewish culture on local cuisine is felt. So you can taste vorschmack, hummus, and tzimmes in a local interpretation.

Dwelling

The main thing in Odesa is to choose the right area to live in. Museums and architectural monuments are mainly concentrated in the Primorsky district, but it is closer to the best beaches from the Kyiv district.

Where to go nearby

One of the most popular locations near Odesa is the Kuialnyk Estuary. Its water turned pink, thanks to crustaceans. You can also go to Sanzhiyka – the village with a steep seashore. And in Belgorod-Dniester, you will have the opportunity to see and walk through the territory of the Akkerman fortress (Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi fortress) of 13–14 centuries, which is well preserved and rises majestically above the sea.
