— St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral was built in the 12th century by Prince Svyatopolk Izyaslavich, the grandson of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. There used to be the burial place of several princely generations. The cathedral was the first Orthodox temple with gilded domes. But the shrine is most famous for its mosaics and frescoes, which were a new spin on painting in medieval Russia. During the reconstruction, the facades were decorated with stucco decorations and ornaments, and the frieze of the drums was adorned with majolica rosettes, which shimmered with all the colors under the sunlight. Earlier all the walls of the cathedral from the inside were decorated with mosaics, which seemed to fill the expanse with living flowers. That's why they were called shimmering paintings. Today, only 45 m² of mosaics remained, and the rest are now exhibited in the world's famous museums and the cathedral of Sophia. Two slate slabs with relief images of horsemen have survived. Their origin and subjects are still a mystery.

It was founded back in 1935, and today it has eight botanical and geographical sections, mono-gardens, and greenhouses with plants that are atypical for Ukraine.
