What to see

The cultural zone with the Spodek sports and concert complex and the Silesian Museum. The latter is considered the center of modern culture and has a very unusual location. It was opened on the territory of a former coal mine.

We recommend not to run away from the industrial Nikishovets and simply walk along its streets. The local red brick houses are the hallmark of Upper Silesia.

And you also need to hang out at local festivals. At least once in a lifetime, true connoisseurs of modern music should visit the Off Festival. Blues lovers will not be able to resist the temptation to visit the Rawa Blues Festival. The largest in the world, by the way.

Here you need to try local street food: smoked sheep cheese, dumplings with mushrooms and meat, urek soup or potato slimes. Such a snack will cost no more than €1-2*.

Explore (things to see out of the city)

— Opole is the historical capital of Upper Silesia. 100 km — only one hour on the way, and you will get memories of a beautiful city for the entire life. We advise you to climb the Piast Tower and then visit the Market Square and the Town Hall.

— Pszczyna is the birthplace of the most beautiful woman of the Edwardian era. This is where Daisy von Pless was born. The city is very poetic, comfortable, and cozy. Walk from the castle park to the Old Town. The distance between the cities is short: 40 km — and you are there.

— Cieszyn — to cross the bridge and end up in the Czech Republic. The city on the border is worth traveling 80 km from Katowice. Be sure to climb the Castle Hill: from there you can see both banks of the Olshe River. And go to the far shore, it is not always possible to visit two countries a day.
