From airport to the city

There are three ways to get to Kyiv from Boryspil airport: by bus (from the stop close to the exit of Terminal D to the Kharkivska Metro Station or the Southern Railway Station, €2–3.3 per ticket), by train (from the station to the right from Terminal D to Darnytsia and Central (Southern) railway stations, €2.6) and by taxi (≈ €10–16, you can order the car on-site or through applications Uber, Uklon or Bolt).

Transport

A ticket for the subway, municipal buses, trolleybuses, and trams costs €0.3. If you come for a long time, you can buy a card for 10–50 trips and save money (the card itself costs €1.6).

Interesting historical places

To experience the city, take a walk through Podil, the Upper Town, and Pechersk – there are the most beautiful old buildings. Here is a list of must-visit places: Saint Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, House with Chimaeras, Mariinsky Palace, St. Andrew’s Church, the Hryshko National Botanical Garden.

Also, we highly recommend observing the city from the observation decks. They are in Mariinsky Park, the Park of Glory, and near the Peoples’ Friendship Arch (from there the “glass bridge” is laid; it is popular with tourists and from there it is also possible to look at the city and Dnieper).

There are establishments in Kyiv that offer to taste Ukrainian dishes – both traditional and modern recipes (for example, some restaurants cook the borsch with plum jam). Cuisines of other nations are also popular - from Georgian to Mexican. And in the bars, you will find delicious Ukrainian beer, quality wines, and homemade tinctures.

Most places are concentrated in Podil, in the center, and in the Upper Town.

Hostels in Kyiv cost €10–12, hotels – €40–50. There are also good apartments on Airbnb that are convenient to rent for a long period or for a company.

Where to go nearby

There are two parks near Kyiv, built on the traditions of Ukrainian culture – Pyrohiv (Ukrainian houses from different regions and times are gathered here) and the Kievan Rus Park (with wooden fortifications, reconstruction of battles, and the opportunity to try yourself in the saddle).

Nature lovers can go to Mezhyhirya. Or to the Kyiv Sea (Kyiv Cistern, Kyiv Reservoir), which, although is a reservoir, but no less limitless. There are incomparable sunsets.
