From airport to the city

The airport is located 19 km from the city. You can get to the city by train ($ 4.4, the schedule is reduced on Fridays and Saturdays, so check it), by minibus ($ 10–13, travel around the clock and stop anywhere on request), by bus (the longest route, with a transfer: free of charge from Terminal 3 to the Airport City stop and $ 4 to the city itself), or by taxi ($ 50-60).

Transport

The most popular transport in Tel Aviv is buses. You can buy a ticket for $ 2–3.4, valid for an hour and a half with an unlimited number of transfers. If you plan to stay longer in the city, you can buy a Rav Kav card and save on trips. There are also minibuses ($ 2–2.6).

Important: buses do not run from mid-Friday to Saturday evenings because of the Shabbat (except for some buses, which run for free at that time), but minibuses and taxis work.

Interesting historical places

To feel yourself really in the ancient city, start a walk with Jaffa. This is the old stone port town on the hill where Noah built his ark, according to the Old Testament. You can endlessly wander the narrow streets, admire the sea from the cozy terraces, visit the galleries and ancient temples.

Another port, in fact, of Tel Aviv, is a place where you can have fun in numerous establishments and clubs or on attractions. And you can walk, breathing the sea air, down the renovated promenade.

And, of course, for a deeper acquaintance with local culture (but not only), go to the museum: Tel Aviv Museum of Art (ТАМА) and contemporary art gallery Sommer Contemporary Art. And learn about the formation history of Israel as a state in Yitzhak Rabin Center.

Establishments

There are dozens of establishments for all tastes in Tel Aviv, but the city is primarily famous for its street food. So do not ignore the opportunity to try hummus, falafel, and a huge shawarma, which seems to feed the whole company.

The situation is not worse with bars in the city. Many of them do not keep silent all night long and even on Shabbat. First of all, we recommend tasting wine; the most interesting is pomegranate.

Dwelling

Tel Aviv is a seaside city, so the closer to the sea the dwelling is, the more expensive it is. Hotels cost ≈ $ 120–250, hostels – ≈ $ 20–40 (there are far fewer of them than in Europe), apartments – ≈ $ 50–150.

Where to go nearby

If you are close to the topic of pilgrimage, then you can quickly get to Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Bethlehem. And if at the same time you want to enjoy the aesthetics of nature, go to Lake Kinneret – a vast body of water with a view of the mountains and where the Jordan flows out.
