— A house with cats is a vivid example of Art Nouveau in Kyiv architecture. The author of the project was V. Bessmertny, by whose last name the house is often called «Koshchei's palace». The four-storey house in green and white decor has an asymmetrical facade, doors and windows of different sizes and shapes. On the first floor, fancy mascarons in the form of cat faces are located to the sides of the semicircular window. On the second floor, wise owls are located on columns, and on the roof above the main entrance, the figure of the devil rises in the trees. This is a very bizarre but mesmerizing piece of architecture.

— Kyiv Academic Puppet Theater, operating since 1927. In 2005, a separate building in the form of a fantasy castle with niches decorated with sculptures of fairy-tale characters was built for it.
