Cheap flights from Kyiv (KBP) to Heraklion (HER)

Heraklion with its port and huge territory is the gateway city of the largest and most tourist island in Greece. It has everything: history, beaches, nature, and gastronomy. And most importantly, the atmosphere of Mediterranean impromptness with only one plan — relaxation.

How to get

The airport is located 5 km from the city, so you will have at least two transport alternatives:

— Bus. 35 minutes and about €0.75*. The stops are located outside the airport, so you have to go to the stop near the ring road. Look for buses №1 or №78 there. But keep in mind that they run only until 9 pm.

— Taxi. 10 minutes on the way and about €20*.

What to see

The city is literally packed with historical attractions, so we decided to give a very indicative, but important list of the main must-see places:

Eat

Cheese, olives and bread. You will find these foods in the daily diet of any local. And also snails with rosemary, spanakopita and dakos.

The average bill in a local tavern will be about €25-30* for two.

Restaurants and eminent establishments put a higher price, therefore, dinner here will cost about €40* per person.

Explore (things to see out of the city)

— Rethymno. A very picturesque city from the Venetian period. A few kilometers away is Lake Kournas, the largest freshwater lake on the island. On the lake you can rent a paddleboat and go to find some turtles. The lake is small, but it gets deeper from north to south. Lots of turtles live near the southern coast, which is the best place to feed and photograph them.

— Authentic village of Panormo.

— Elafonisi or pink sand beach.

— Mata beach. It is also called Hippie Beach. They say that in the 60s of the last century, at the height of rock and roll popularity, hippies came here, gouged caves in the rocks and lived there. The water here is clear and turquoise, with beautiful limestone rocks above the beach.

Accommodation 

Apartments in the city center cost approximately €26* per night. But you will have your own balcony, clean sheets and plenty of space.

If you want to live closer to the sea, you will have to pay about €35* per night.

A hotel room with breakfast and sea view will cost at least €69*.
